Barbara Du Preez-Ulmi

Barbara Du Preez-Ulmi is a mediator and organisational practitioner from South Africa (and Switzerland) specializing in workplace conflict resolution, as well as interpersonal and organisational conflict, with a grounded, thoughtful, and human-centred approach. 

With a postgraduate background in labour law and workplace dispute resolution (CCMA), and over 25 years of international experience, Barbara has worked across diverse contexts - from NGOs, schools, digital agencies, start-ups to corporate and private organisations. She has held senior leadership roles and worked extensively as both an in-house and independent mediator. 

Having witnessed how conflict is often escalated by rigid systems, poor communication, and power imbalances, she is deeply committed to conflict resolution approaches that prioritize dialogue, agency, and durable solutions. 

Barbara holds a BA in Communications and Marketing and is a certified NLP coach. This interdisciplinary foundation informs her ability to bridge structure and emotion, strategy and empathy - supporting people to navigate difficult conversations with clarity and confidence. 

She offers mediation and facilitation services in calm, confidential, and well-held spaces, where complexity is respected and all voices are heard. Her work, including family mediation services, is both structured and relational, supporting clients to reach informed, voluntary agreements that can be sustained over time. 

Barbara believes that even in moments of deep disagreement or organisational strain, conflict can be approached in ways that preserve dignity, restore trust, and open the possibility for meaningful, transformative change, including through effective online mediation services.
